The column This A That written by Emily Miller has been turned over to That and This, this week to the Court House Gang.
We always know when the menu at the “Opportunity Shop" will be Old Ham sandwiches; Emily feeds Arthur at least two chicken sandwiches, all the coffee he wants and two or more dips of ice cream topped with chocolate sauce; that’s her way of getting the keys to the meat house. It’s a shame the way Arthur gets rid of his horses, Emily can tell you that. Wonder why she didn’t buy the glasses the salesman tried to sell her last week? She’s also losng business because her sandwiches are too small. Wonder if Emily’s threat to go out of business has anything to do with the telephone calls she received last Thursday, night? Another that was left out of last week’s column is the Sanitation Officer, Ralph Strawn. Poor Ralph, he shouldhave known better. .he was here only a week when he put “Jock” out of insurance business. . . . Mr. Saville, the Ass’t County Agent, will sit through lunch hour after some months now, although he doesn’t have very much to say, but Miss Fuss, the new Home Demonstration agent, only stays long enough to eat her lunch, then runs; but give her time hope she’ll finally get use to us. The county’s First Aid Instructor really does believe in being prepared for any emergency they say his car is equipped with all necessities. . . Rodes and Mary Miller are getting along a lettle better this week. ... The R. V. Sneads going along as usual. . . Ruby still keeping the ladies on the Council straight. . . Jimmie Settle still speaking very sweetly to all the girls. . . "Jock” still trying to keep every one straight.
