“Apple” Theme
Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Snead entertained the bridge club Wednesday evening, September 12, at their home on Gay street with an “apple” theme. One contest was to name every apple on display. Mrs. Robert Menefee won the prize for the ladies and W. F. Moffett, Jr., won the prize for the men, in naming the apples.
Another contest required the men to “Pick Out the Apple of Your Eye.” The ladies stood behind a curtain, on which was painted a large apple; with shoes removed and feet and ankles displayed, the men had to name the proper bare feet belonging to their wives. Every man guessed the right feet. , i Guests at this unusual party were Mr. and Mrs. William Moffett, Mr. and Mrs. John R. Dell ergh, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Simth, Jr., Mrs. Robert Menefee, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Wood, Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Keyser, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Keyser, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Jones. Mrs. Jones was awarded high score prize for ladies, and John ‘DeBergh, high score for men. Aubrey Keyser and Mrs. J. E. Keyser were awarded the low prizes, two cans of applesauce on which was written, “If I had had his cards, I would have been first in the end. To this I must reply, Sir,* It’s all applesauce, my friend’.”
