Popular With 4-H’ers
Interest is running high in the 4-H sheep project.
Dave Brower, 4-H livestock specialist at VPI says, in fact, that the sheep project is returning more per dollar invested than any other livestock project.
There are about 89 flock projects in 22 Virginia counties this year, with flocks ranging in Bize from 5 to 30 sheep.
Brower says 56 boys in 19 . counties turned in complete records on their flock projects this year. They began with 448 breeding ewes valued at 312,661.45 in the fall of 1049. Net income averaged 3151.51 per flock and the 4-H’ers still own ewes valued at 315,i639, plus about 31,500 in replacement ewe lambs. In addition, they won 31,500 in premiums.
Rappahannock 4-H’ers in this project include: Donald Gore, Francis Bruce, Jackie Sisk, Bobby Atkins, Richard Griffith, Kelly Updike, Randall Updike, Douglas Martin, and Melvin Williams.

The Flint Hill Garden club held its regular meeting with Mrs. R. L. Massie as hostess. Mrs. W. C. Williams was in charge of the program, and gave a lecture on ■ the interesting flowers she had seen on a trip to California. Mrs. „ Janxes : Settle was - awarded high,: score for flower arrangement.
