A minister in Martinsburg, W. Va., has started a campaign aganst gossip.
•Rev. Virgil S. Dickson, pastor of Second Baptist church, Martinsburg, has askecLhis congregation “to declare -war against it” and said he plans to extend the drive by means of posters and letters. *
“The Bible has more to say against gossip,” the minister sai\ “than against murder, drunkenness, and adultery. The idle talkers of Christ’s day helped cause His crucifixion.”
If the drys can campaign against the liquor traffic, the minister asked, “Why can’t Christians campaign against gossip? The_ Bible tells us it is a serious sin.”
The history books tell us that back in the eleventh century it was customary for a knight to place a star upon the shield of his coat-of-arms for each trip to the Holy Land made in a Crusade.
The minister who begins a crusade against gossip should be allowed to emblazon the sun, moon, and the Milky Way upon the shield of his modern-day armou^.
