Mrs. Pearl Hare and Miss Margaret Lapp, of West Chester, and Mrs. Malcolm Gardiner of E. Goshen township, motored to Flint Hill on Sunday to visit the grave of the late Joseph Reid, whose home prior to his sudden death on July 26, was at Delchester Farms, Chester County.
A large dark green box containing English boxwood and a memorial tribute inscribed on a brass plate was placed by the visitors on the grave that is located in the old and beautiful Methodist cemetery overlooking the Blue Ridge mountains.
This tribute was sent by a local group of Mr. Reid’s Pennslyvania friends, who were unable to go south for the funeral, includng Mrs. Pearl Hare, Raymond Good, Miss Enftna Wood, Miss Mildred Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Gardiner, ynd the Lapp family. The inscription on the plate is the quotation, “To live in hearts you leave behind is not to die”, reflecting the great loss felt by Mr. Reid’s friends in this vicinity.
