A Salute To "King Apple”
In February the * county apple growers—along with the printers at Rappahannock News—issued a copy of the county’s weekly newspaper as “A Salute to King Apple— Tyrant." The growers aired their views on the troubles that beset the orchardist.
The growers plainly admitted they didn’t like all the circumstances that went along with their business. They crticized themselves, the trees, and the way they treated the trees; the quality of the apples, the varieties of apples, the quantity of certain sizes of fruit, and the market for them all.
After the growers had complained of their lot, then they went to work to try to find how to correct conditions they did not like. --—
This week the growers offer a salute to King Apple— with no complaints. Agricultural services have tried to answer s o^m e of the growers’ problems and have made suggestions.
At this season of the year, it is nigh unto impossible to complain or criticize. That was easy in dull, dreary February, but now the land is beautiful. The apple trees are in bloom - and their beauty crowds all ill thoughts from mind.__-•••••.•• _——~
