Newbill Miller was chosen to become an All-Star during the State 4-H Short Course the past week. We were quite proud to have Newbill accepted by the All Stars, an organization composed ol outstanding 4-H boys and girls all over Virginia. It is a wish that other 4-H’ers will accept this as one of their goals and begin to work on thetr 4-H records.
Smile, and the world smiles with you described the counteance of the 850 4-H boys and girls attending 4-H short course at VPI the past week. Bernice Nethers, Lelia Gentry, Newbflj Miller and Kelly Updike along with Miss Elizabeth Fuss, home agent attended from RnppnhinnnrlrThtring this week the 4-H club motto “To Make the Best Better” was demonstrated in many different ways. All 4-H’ers watched one group state contestants give a demonstration in their project. 84 state awards being given during the week. The delegates attended other classes in punior leader ship. Tips for Toppers, folk games, Joyfully We Sing, etc. Highlights of the week included slides from Syria and a talk given by Frankie Wilson, an IFYE student,, talks from National 4-H Camp in Washington and the imexpected talents Thursday night at the talent show by the 4-H’ers. *
