Friday, July 4, is a legal holiday. It’s one of the three days in the year that the Clerk’s office will be closed; the banks will not be open for business; post offices are tdosed and rural routes carry no mail. Fancy job-holders get time-and-a-half if they work; and the farmer finds that the chickens still expect to be fed, whether it’s a holiday or not.
The banks get Friday and Saturday both holiday, since the Governor declared the two-day holiday for Independence Day.
