The Lady-Councilman (who has _been referred to as the “peaches and cream widow” by a national magazine) has threatened that feathers will fly if reparations are not forthcoming, and her tone insinuated P-D-Q as punctuation.
The Lady received the editor’s apology and the following explanation: on the particular week that the editorial appeared, a citizen of Washington had published a letter that seemd to place the situation in the line of “the less saidt the better."
There is no inference that citizens are not as co-operative as elsewhere.
Attributes of the county 6eat will be easy to list. It*s a pretty, little village, situated in a section ' of country that is breath-taking to visitors, and taken for granted by the citizens. The village voices with pride the historical background of “The First Washington" and enjoys the position of bearing the name of “The Father of His Country.” The manner in which families continue to live in the village even when the earning of a livelihood means long commuting miles is an obvious exhibition of the pleasure of residence. Homes that remain in one family for generation after generation show that the village must have pleasing qualities to hold residents within the corporate limits.
