There is no use to look with envious eye upon the raspberry and bean; you cannot get into the freezing compartment. Jobs at the Locker Plant must be selling high; with temperatures hovering a^ove 90, they surely don’t pay anyone to work all day in the nice, cold rooms at the Locker Plant. I wonder how much they charge you for the privilege of a job?
Anyone who possessed a cool basement last Wednesday-through Monday sought it out and parked therein. I did—what time I could. I sat in bliss (and a temperature of 72°) and admired the canned preserves, a few stray cobwebs, one of grandma’s old straight "parlor” chairs hung on a nail, a wool-winder, a flax-wheel, and an old trunk with metal bands around it. Yep, in that nice, cool, dusty basement, I sat im quiet solitude and shivered gloriou^l ly. (For the next hot spell we have I’m. considering charging admission.)
