STREET MARKERS ARE 22 YEARS OLD FRIDAY
Washington’s street name markers will be 22 years old Friday, July 4. The small name plates for each street in the village were purchased from the Lamb Seal & Stencil Co., Inc and were delivered July 3, 1930. The following day, July 4, the late James M. Lillard put them up. Burrell Partlow was mayor of Washington at the time and D. C. Updijce, as clerk, wrote the check in payment. F. Clyde Baggarly had charge of securing the name plates.
Miss Judy Hawkins is spending a vacation in Martinsburg, West Virginia with her cousin “Pat” Sullivan, who was a guest in the Hawkins home for a week.
Mr. and Mrs. James Broyles and sons, Bobby and Buddy, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Leake and son, Billy spent Sunday at Fairview Beach.
James Broyles, who holds a position in Washington, D. C., spent the weekend with his family in Sperryville.
