Officials Conduct Tour
In Soil Survey Interest
On hand Thursday, November 6, were Dr. S. S. Obenshain, Agronomist with VPI Experiment Station Virginia; W. W. Lewis, Extension in charge of Soil Survey Work in Agronomist of '• Glenn Wilson, Survey Supervisor of S.C.S.; Hubert Porter, Associate Agronomist for the State Experiment Station; and Mr. Carter, Soils Technician, Culpeper Soil Conservation District to help with a soil / study tour of farms in Rappahannock.
The second such tour sponsored bythe county agronomy committee, the purpose of the attendance of the officials was to help with the tour and at the same time to see, hear and feel the degree of interest shown by the local farmers.
The officials seemed impressed, but not enough to make, a verbal commitment. Their reaction has been, termed “a faint smile of encouragement,©r a squintof an eye in wonderment of whether interest was absolutely sincere or as an indication that they were actually weighing the interest of Rappahannock citizens against that of those from some other county.”
Discussion at a Courthouse meeting preceded the tour.
