Sallie M. Clark
Funeral 'services for Mrs. Sallie M. Clark, 95, prominent in Baptist Church activities, were held in Gawlers Chapel, Washington, D. C. Burial was private in Winchester. Mrs. Clark, a native of Washington, Rappahannock County, went to Washington, D. C. five years ago to live with her daughter, Mrs. Charles H. Doing, daughter of the late _ Thomas Holtzman, minsiter of the Baptist Church in her home town. Mrs. Clark was married to the Rev. Thomas D. Clark, minister of the Manassas Baptist Church, who died eight years ago. Mrs. Clark was active in her church affairs and helped to build Baptist Churches in Winchester, Virginia and Hagerstown, Maryland* She died in the Waverly Sanitorium.
In addition to Mrs. Doing, she is survived by three other daughters, Mrs. Jessie Laws, San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Sarah Horton, Phoenix, Ariz.; Mrs. Marion MacRae, Richmond, Calif.; three sons, Douglas and Lalter C. Clark of Washington; and Aylett D. Clark, of San Diego, Calif; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Clark, who was affectionately known to many Rappahannock people asJ'Cousin Sallie,” was the daughter of Sarah Nicol and granddaughter of Sara Miller, who was the daughter of Henry Miller II. It can’truly be said of “Cousin Sallie” that: “None knew her but to love her; none named her but to praise.”
