(5) Capital punishment diminishes the certainity of punishment. It is the common experience that juries often will not convict when they know that the penalty is death. Thus capital punishment gives juries an unconscious excuse for acquitting a man who should be punished,
(6) The act of capital punishment is cold-blooded and deliberate murder. Each citizen is as responsible for murder as the executioner who pulls the switch. For we give him the power and authority to do it. Put yourself in his place. If you couldn’t pull the switch yourself you believe in God's commandment, “Thou shalt not kill" and should oppose capital punishment.
(7) Capital punishment violates a basic Christian doctrine, the sacredness of human,life. Christ lifted up the personality of each man, no matter how degraded he seemed to be. He taught his followers to reform that which is lost; He said, “Condemn not.” We are condemning a man when we give him the death penalty. We are judging a man when he is punished in other ways.
