Delegate Tom Frost, completing his first term in the Virginia General Assembly, filed Wednesday, April 1, as a candidate for a second term. Mr. Frost /now • represents Fauquier County in the legislature, but because of redistricting during his term filed this year to. represent the new district of Fauquier and Rappahannock counties.
Rappahannock has been represented in the legislature by Delegate D. French Slaughter of Culpeper, which county has been redistricted with CulOrange and Madison. Mr. Slaughter has announced he will not seek reelection, leaving the field open for Delegate Norman Bailey of Orange.
The primary election to select the Democratic candidate for the office is scheduled July 14. Mr. Frost, so far, is the only candidate..
Miss Nancy Yowell
Named To Plu Beta Kappa
Miss Nancy C. Yowell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Yowell, has been named as one of 14^ students of the College of William and Mary as a member of 'Phi Bata Kappa honor scholastic fraternity. The memberselect will be initiated May 3.
Miss Yowell, a senoir student, graduated from Sperryville High School, 1949. She is remembered by her teachers as an excellent student and pleasant personality.
As far as can be located, Miss Yowell is the second Phi Beta Kappa key to come from the former Sperryville High School. Dr. Alfred Armstrong, now a professor at William and Mary, is also a member of Phi , Beta Kappa and a graduate of Sperryville.
In a search for Phi Beta Kappa keys in Rappahannock, it was found that these two are die only rlalm^ the county can make. An Eastham kin from the Flint Hill neighborhood is a member, but the county cannot claim him until he comes here to live (which he plans to do, so a kinsman says).
One item of interest turned up in the search for scholostic honors among county citizens. Rappahannock has two Jack son-Hope medaldTa fact unusual for a county as small as it is. These two are C. E. Johnson, Jr., of Sperryville, and John Rust of Rint Hill.
