Point-to-Point Races
To Be Held Saturday
- The fair skies spread optimism in Rappahannock as plans are underway for the Fourth Annual (Rappahannock Hunt Point-to-Point races to be held March 6 at “Leeway Farm” beginning at 1 p.m.
Entries from Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Maryland will represent numerous hunts, including: Rappahannock, Hazelmere Hounds, Orange County Hounds, Middleburg, Blue Ridge, Loudoun, Bull Run Hunt, Warrenton, Old Dominion, Elkridge-Harford and Mr. Stewart’s Cheshire Foxhounds. To date there are thirty-two entries for the different jumping races and all the races are well-filled.
As in the past there will be trophies for the winners of the jumping races and cash prizes teethe win, show and place Draft Horses and Hounds.
The race committee has made several improvements on the course this year and wants to again ask spectators not to throw bottles and trash on the race course as they can prove very dangerous.
Food will be served on the grounds, so you,won’t have to bother with dinner oefore you leave home.
The Rappahannock Hunt has issued invitations to all land owners on whose grounds the Hunt Gub has hunted. If by oversight, any such land owners should have been overlooked, he is requested to notify any member of the Hunt, or call Mrs. John R. DeBergh, Washington 2609.
The Point-to-Point Races will be on TV, Monday night, Channel 9, the Donna Douglas Show.
