Shades of Houdini—If you don’t believe there is a magician in the county you should have seen Bill Varner this week figuring out the system of wiring on our new press. When the press came in the wiring had been taken loose and not marked. Bill had to figure out the complicated way the* wires ran from the main switch to the speed control box, thence to the switch that makes the press go back or forward, then to an automatic safety switch that will stop the press if anything goes hay-wire. It was too complicated for me to * even watch him so I just left him ^lone knowing full well that the ele<firiqal part would be ok.

Mrs. J. Frank Jones answered the question of last week — the first Confederate flag was the “Stars and Bars”, two red bars with one white bar, seven white stars on a blue field. It was first raised at Montgomery, Alabama, March 4, 1861 by Miss L. C. Tyler of Virginia, a granddaughter of ex-President Tyler.
