Locally, Mrs. Buntin said, the public assistance program followed -nhis pattern: old age assistance, 1 case to 44; aid to dependent children remained the same at 18 cases; aid to the permanently and totally disabled remained the same at 18 cases; general relief rose 1 case to 3.
Total expenditures in the state increased $37,167, to $1,440,715, and total assistance cases rose 535 to 36,318. This was 1,341 cases more than January a year ago, the, Superintendent said.

Every 30 minutes someone in the United States is killed in an accidental home fall, Dr. Mack I. Shan. iholtz, State Health Commissioner, said today.
The highest number of fatalities resulting from home falls occurs in the 65 plus age group, Dr. Shanholtz said. Of the 14,400 fatal home falls in 1952, the National Safety Council estimates placed 12,500 of the victims in this age group. This trend holds true in Virginia also.
