Ladies Auxiliary

Meets Monday

The Ladies Auxiliary to the Washington Volunteer Fire Department met Monday night, August 1 in the Bank lot, with the vice-president, Mrs. C. T. Bruce, presiding.

Five 'members were present including Mrs. C. T. Bruce, Mrs. D. D. Miller, Mrs. Wade H. Massie. Jr.. Mrs. Frank Moffett, and Mrs. Bruce Bowie. Following the reading of the minutes by Mrs. Miller, Secretary, a short business meeting was held.

The ladies discussed the success of the bingo party. $115.10 was grossed, according to final reports from Miss Mary Jenkins, treasurer. Mrs. Bruce stated that $5.00 additional was netted froht the country store of the home carnival sponsored bv the ladies. This money was proceeds from a few articles left from the store that were sold later.

The Auxiliary has a total of >690.11 on its account.

The topic of cleaning the auxiliary room was mentioned. This matter could not be discussed, as no report has been received from the town council concerning the painting of the room, (the ladies auxiliary felt that it would be useless to clean the room before it was painted.)
