In recent years, however, there have been spasmodic efforts to give December 16 the commemoration it deserves. Two years ago, for example, on the occasion of the 160th anniversary of the ratification, the Legion of Guardsmen aake4 each post to Recognise the data in a public program.
And Ibis year the American Federation of Labor is asking all of its unions and locals to recognize Bill of Rights day at union meetings, through the schools and through the press.
Who knows? Perhaps in time December 16 will be given nationwide recognition equal to the historical holidays we now observe. It is past time it is so recognised, for as the AFL points out “there is no problem of human rights which cannot be answered within the Perimeter of the. Bill of Rights."
Truly it is a date to remember.
