Mill Iron H-812, one of the 50 purebred registered Hereford bulls donated by the Sears-Roebuclcf Foundation to the Virginia Association of FFA in 1950, and assigned to the O. R. Johnson NFA Chapter, has been sold. His ' work while assigned to the O.R. Johnson Chapter includes the breeding of 124 grade beef cows. 12 registered beef cows, 24 grade dairy cows and 8 registered dairy cows. His calves were extremely good. Four of them have won top places in competition in our FourCounty Fair. Mill Iron himself won fourth and seventh places in the Sears-Roebuck Show at the Atlantic Rural Exposition in 1951 and 1952 respectively. Along with the above showings he also won gr^nd champion three consecutive years in the Four-County Fair.
The move to up-grade beef cattle in Virginia having been initiated by the Sears-Roebuck Foundation, has served as an incentive to local farmers in developing high grade and registered hejds of beef cattle. Because of the tremendous influence that this program has had upon the farmers in this area, we have decided to continue with the effort.
