My tops were cows called “Big Reg.” and “Big George". Also I felt “Slow Poke” would be among the top producing cows; “Skinny White” among the poorest. Comments from other cowmen whp had seen the herd indicated their choices about the same as mine. Then came the report from Tom Marlowe proving me wrong in mjy ratings of the cows; right in mjy faith in R. O. P. The results: top indexed cow was “Hump Back,’’ i cow I had little regard for; Bijg Reg ranked second. Slow Poke ' last, Big George next to last . Ih fact Big George a coW that I hail picked as a bred heifer out of 4t) back in 1951 proved to be only ah average producer, (Marlowe considers an index of 100 as average.)
