Accidents Reported
Two weekend traffic accidents were investigated by Trooper W. A. Buntin, who reported there was no serious personal injury, but damages totaled over $1,500.
Newton Charles Ward of Birmingham, Ala. passed a car on wet pavement skidded | and ran off the left side of \ the highway into the bank. : The accident occurred Sat- j urday, June 29 on Route 211 a mile east of Sperryville. Damage was estimated at $400. Ward sustained abrasions of the left side of his face. Sunday night at 9:50 p.m. at the intersection of Route 231 and 707, two vehicles collided as one made a left turn on the crest of a hill. Paul Anton Herring of Orange, Va. driving a 57 Cadillac made a left turn into Route 707 from 231 when a 49 Ford pick up driven by Alpheus Snead Atkins struck the Herring car in the right side. Herring was charged with reckless driving, according to Trooper Buntin. Damage to the two vehicles amounted to $1,100.
