Traffic Safety
In asking for the utmost in caution and in appreciation of the added traffic dangers incidental to the Fourth of July holiday, Colonel C. W. Woodson, Jr., Superintendent of State Police and Chairman of the Governor's Highway Safety Committee, announced the official score of only one killed on Memorial Day and 10 for the entire four-day weekend. “As did Memorial Day, the Fourth will fall on a Thursday to give another fourday weekend for many,” he said. "We can expect traffic to be heavier and more dangerous, however, since the Fourth is more enthusiastically celebrated.” He stated further that the roads would be as heavily patrolled during the holiday i- period as State Police mani power will permit and that
