According to George H. ' Davis, Jr., Commonwealth Attorney for Rappahannock County, preliminary field surveys and studies indicate that the County has lost approximately 7,980 acres of taxable land to the adjoining counties of Culpeper and Madison. Mr. Davis, who is being opposed for re-election to that office in the county - wide democratic primary on July 9, 1963 by W. F. Moffett, Jr., states that his investigation of the county’s loss of taxable lands began about two years ago”, and that most of such tax revenue lost to Culpeper County took place during the past 15 years. Commonwealth Attorney Davis on behalf of his County Board of Supervisors, filed the necessary legal pleadings on May 7, 1963, in the Circuit Courts of Rappahannock, Culpeper and Madison Counties. Lawn Party at Willis Chapel
A Lawn Party will be held at Willis Chapel, Huntly, on Saturday, July 6 at 5:30p.m., benefit of the Sunday School. The menu will consist of Ham, Fried Chicken, Baked Beans, Salads, Drinks, Cake, Pie and Ice Cream.
