Moffett, Jr., who seeks the Democratic ! nomination for the office of Commonwealth’s Attorney in the July 9th primary was j born and reared in Rappa• hannock County, as were his | parents and grandparents. He is a graduate of Wash! ington High School and received his B.A. degree from Washington and Lee University in 1942, after which he enlisted in the U. S. Coast Guard and was sent to Officers Training School at New London, Connecticut. Receiving a commission as Ensign he was assigned to convoy duty in the Carribean. Thereafter he was transferred to the South Pacific Theater as commanding officer of a supply vessel and took part in the landings on New Guinea and the Philippines.
He was discharged with the rank of Lieutenant in May, 1946, and returned to Washington and Lee where he received his law degree in 1947. Since that time he has practiced law and farming in Rappahannock County. Mr, Moffett is married to the former Jean Page Buxton and they have three children; Frank, Page, and Jean Carter.
