Library Dedication €
Dear Rappahannock Friends: The Librarians, the Trustees, and the District Committees of Rappahannock Library extend to you a cordial invitation to participate in the dedication ceremonies of the first Public Library to be opened in the County since it was established in 1833. You, your family and guests will be most welcomed at the Dedication of the Library at the corner of Calvert and Gay! Streets in Washington, Va. on Saturday morning, October 19 at 10:00 o'clock. Mrs. L. Nelson Revercomb, accompanied by Mrs. E. M. jQhnson, will be soloist, a short dedication ceremony, ribbon cutting and presentation of the keys, a visit to the Library and an examination of a typical BOOK-, MOBILE (loaned by Orange County) will be the first part. A cavalcade will form and go to the Rappahannock County High School Auditorium for formal ceremonies and a talk by Attorney-General Robert! Y. Button scheduled for 11a.m. The Warren County High School Band will play. A benefit lunch will be served by the Friends of the Lihrary In the School Cafeteria immediately following the program. The Library Board has an imposing program scheduled to begin immediately. They plan a historic research project to gather all possible information on the history of the area prior to the Civil War - provide one major Library program in each District annually - prepare and circulate “Bundles-of-Books" to any County School, Church or organization wishing them, and many more. We not only hope to see you at the ceremonies but hope too that you will find an abiding inteteanr flrwftr~mbst needed educational and cultural development in Rappahannock County.
