According to Acting Superintendent Jospeh Kulesza, a record number of 80,843 persons visited Shenandoah Na?tional Park this past weekend. This compares with a previous record of 67,661 persons who visited the Park last year during the weekend of October 1314. A new record for peak week end travel has been established in the Park, and we are grateful to everyone for making that record possible without serious incidents. Mr. Kulesza reports that traffic over the weekend was near bumper to bumper capacity, and the entire length of the Park from Front Royal to Rockfish Gap was saturated with families enjoying picnic lunches wherever space could be found to park their cars.
