Col. and Mrs. E. A. McNear of Vint Hill Farms Station are spending this week at their home Greenwood in the Gid Brown Hollow. Their guests are his parents Mr. and Mrs. Arthur McNear of Harrisburg, Pa., their son Lt. Richard McNear of Fort Meade and Miss Robin Luff of the Fort Meade vicinity. Their daughter Miss Nancy McNear and Charles White of Ohio were week-end guests. Lt. Richard McNear is leaving next week for the Pacific area to fill a six month’s assignment as special aide on a General’s Staff.' ' Judge and Mrs. B. M. Miller entertained at dinner Tuesday evening for Col. and Mrs. McNear, Lt. and Mrs. McNear and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur McNear.
Miss Harriet Goode was a guest over the week-end of Miss Sarah Lindsey and Miss Sara Webb in Arlington and attended the G.W.-V.P.I. football game on Friday night.
Miss Josephine and Miss Ahna May Stambaugh visited friends in Washington, D. C. on Sunday and attended services at Calvary Baptist Church Mr. and Mrs. William M. Carrigan' of Washington, D.C. spent the week-end at their home Avon Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Eppa Groves of Arlington were Saturday guests of Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Armel. Mrs. Armel was a Wednesday night guest of Mrs. Ada Mellott in Alexandria. Mr. and Mrs. Gone Rosson and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Williams of Arlington were Sunday afternoon visitors of E. M. Richards.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Soboloff of Orange, Conn, were luncheon guests Tuesday of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Payne. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Burke were Mr. and Mrs. Judd Burke of Flint Hill. Monday visitors were Mrs. Burke’s sister-in-law and niece Mrs. John Evans and daughter Miss Janet Evans of Luray.
