Since time forced me to leave my “around the county” comments out of the column last week, I’ll devote the first part of my reflections this week to some of my observations “around the county”.

Do you know how talented you really are? TJjis county is bursting at the seams with interesting, talented people who can teach you many things. Look at the artistic talent that was displayed in the dried flower arrangements at the recent show and sale. And you don’t need me to tell you what wonderful cooks there are in the county! I’m learning something new each day from you ladies about food preparation.

And what about the various crafts? There seem to be many people who are interested and skilled in quilting, knitting, crotcheting, needlepoint, etching, textile painting, copper tooling, braiding rugs, hooking rugs, and restoring antiques. Not a week goes by that someone doesn’t ask for a program on one of these crafts.

What we need to do is get the people who want to learn together with the people with the know how and let them share their talents. Now all we need to do is find a way to do it. J’ll think about this for awhile and maybe with your suggestions we could come up with some ideas.

The two home demonstration clubs that have met thus far this month have also been bubbling over with ideas to share. The Amissville Club will hold a workshop this week to make Christmas decorations. They have some good ideas. The Sperryville Club received many delightful candy making ideas. Mrs. Charles t Glaenzer jras hosteai^ |or. th$ * meeting. She showed how to make fondant and gave recipes for several other delicious candies. • The Castleton and , Wood■ ville Clubs will meet this week with the Flint Hill Home Demonstration Club on Tuesday, the 19th at the home of Mrs.. Frank Cary.
