Heads Heart Fund Campaign in Va.
Dr. John T. Kelly, Dentist of Bristol, Va., has accepted appointment as the 1964 Heart Fund Chairman for Virginia, it was announced today by Dr. Robert F. Bondurant of Roanoke, Virginia Heart Association President. Kelly is a Past State' President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce.
Proceeds of the annual Heart Fund campaign will be used to fight the heart and blood vessel diseases, now responsible for more than 54 percent of all deaths in the United States, and 53 percent in Virginia. These diseases include heart attack, stroke, and other complications of hardening of the arteries, high blood pressure, rheumatic fever, inborn heart defects, and many other heart and blood vessel disorders. The campaign, which supports the research, educa-i tion and community service! programs of the Heart Association throughout the country, begins with the opening of Heart Month, February 1, continuing through February 29, 1964. “I am happy to accept the chairmanship of the 1964 Virginia Heart Fund campaign and to join actively in this health crusade which is saving hearts in Virginia and throughout the nation, ’ Dr. Kelly said. “This assignment is challeng. ing because the Heart Cause is so very important.
