The Joint Board of Control for the Madison Extension Center of the School of General Studies met on Saturday November 7 at the Madison Center. The Board heard a progress report from M. S. Matthews, acting center director, and a projection report from A. C. de Porry, director of Ejfc tension programs for the University's School of General Studies. The board learned that the center currently has a student boyd of 46 day students. The georgraphical distribution by counties is; Culpeper-11, Madison-8, Orange-4, Greene-2, Rappahannock-2, and others 19. An expansion of sixty students is expected for the session 1965-66. In order that the Center might best serve the joint fivecounty area, the board, by unanimous vote, directed its chairman, David F. Berry of Madison to ask the University to investigate the possibility of adding a classroom wing to the present building. It is strongly felt by the Board that such expansion will be necessary to accomodate the large classes that will soon be graduating from area high schools. As a local project, the Madison members decided to investigate the possibility of a subscription drive for a library wing for the Center which might also serve as a community library.
