The recently completed addition to Amissville Baptist Church was dedicated at a service Sunday evening at which time the Rev. John Hodge, former pastor of the church was guest speaker. The Rev. Charles Kindred is present pastor and took part in the dedication ceremony. The addition to the Church consists of five class rooms, a kitchen and rest rooms. 3 Amissville Baptist Church was organized in December 1888 with 36 members under the advisory counsels of the Reverends A. M. Grimsley, M. R. Grimsley and S. M. Athey. The last charter mem ber of the church, Mrs. Neva Doyle Bywaters, died in Feb. 1965. The Rev. M. R. Grimsley was the first pastor of the church with an annual salary of $125 for two services a month. On the first birthday of the church membership had increased to 91.
