Variety of Classes
The flower show sponsored by the Rappahannock County Garden Club on Friday, May 21st is just a week from tomo* row. It will be held in the Washington Baptist Church between 3 and 9 p.m. Exhibits must be in place by 10:30a.m. on Friday morning.
Any amateur gardener is invited to exhibit. It will be fun to see how well the green thumb gardeners compete with the club members. In this day and age when plastic flowers are used both inside and out it is well to note that only fresh plant material can be used in . exhibits. This also rules out the use of dried plant ma" terial.
i Class V Our Past and Pres, ent honors the Library and His • torical Society using a book as an accessory with otheir accessories also permitted. This sounds like an exciting and unusual class which should allow for the exercise of all the imagination that has often been d isplayed in former flower shows. One gentlemen was willing to predict the winner in this class, so it seems there are big plans afoot. Do you have a book or accessory that would prove interesting in this class?
The early iris started to bloom this week so the finer varieties should be at their peak for the hortjeultural division. The large first blooms of the pansies have gone but the pretty velvety faces keep popping out in the sunshine day after day and the buds on the roses and peonies look promising.
