Silage Demonstration Preparations Completed at: (1) Billy Waylands — on Chester loam, B slope, @ 600 lbs. 5-10-10/ acre plus 80lbs. Ammonium nitrate on 1/2 acre (90 lbs. N/acre) and plus 160 lbs. Ammonium nitrate on other half acre (per acre rate 135 lbs.) This acre located on 522 between Wayland’s home and Buckley’s service station. At Jim Massie’s the demonstration is on Congaraee silt loam (1st bottom) in field across from Massie's home. 0-18-36 applied to entire acre @ 240 lbs. plus 150 lbs. ammonium nitrate on 1/2 and 250 lbs. on remaining half. Both cooperators selected corn varieties of their choice. Purpose of the demonstrations: to show different influences of two levels of nitrogen on silage yields and Influences of seeding rates. At each demonstration ^cre, 1/2 is planted @ 22,000 per acre and the other half at 14,000 kernels per acre.
