Rappahannock is the first county in Virginia to exceed the 1965 Fair Share Goal of the Cancer Crusade goal. The aim of the crusade was $1,388.84, and has been exceeded by almost a hundred dollars. In a letter to Mrs. James F. Smith of Sperryville who is county chairman for Rappahannock, John D. Buck, state chairman, said, “As chairman of the 1965 Cancer Crusade in Virginia, and in behalf of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Division, American Cancer Society, 1 wish to congratulate you and your coworkers in Rappahannock County for being the first Unit in Virginia to exceed the 1965 Fair Share Goal. We extend our thanks to each of the volunteers who assisted you." According to Mr. Buck, reports from other Units through out the state are encouraging and a most successful crusade is hoped for. As of May 11, the Rappahannock Chapter of the Society has collected $1,477.15. Of this amount, $373 has been contributed to the Memorial Program in memory of friends or relatives. Mrs. Roberta M.
