Virginia Fruit Industry •epresentatives report that he public will in 1965 be able o enjoy a normal supply of hose delicious peaches and asty apples from the Old Dominion. The Virginia Peach Industry Committee meeting in Staun:on on May 11 reported that he normal Virginia peach :rop of 1 million bushels was In prospect. Slight winter darry age to buds and occasional spring damage to poorly located orchards has not ma:erially affected the crop prospect. Sufficient moisture and good growing conditions :hus far have started the crop growing in a fine manner. Harvest may be one week to 10 jays late, due to a cool late spring. The apple crop in Virginia also appears to be normal with good pollinating conditions having prevailed during bloom. With good crops in prospect growers are concerned over the matter of harvest labor. The policies of Secretary of Labor Wirtz have to date only produced frustration among the food producers of the Nation and an inadequate supply; of harvest labor.
