Even the finest and bestloved decorative piece can lose its importance unless it is used wisely. For example, a small picture might well go unnoticed if hung along in the center of a long wall. Place it in a grouping with similar scenes -- or hang it as part of a furniture setting, above a chair or table, near a lamp which will shine on it. Here are a few simple rules for accessory use. Select accessories to fit your furnishings. By the time you are ready to choose accessories, |you have already established your furnishings theme, the color scheme and the room arrangement plan. Resist the impulse to buy a vase or some other item just because it is .Pretry,. You won’t be happy with it unless it fits the style and color pattern of your room. This kind of buying is real extravagance. Select accessories in proper proportion. The personal touches of decorating should be chosen to be in proportion with the furnishings they beautify, and with the room as a whole. This does not mean that all pictures should be of the same size, or that all lamps in a room should be the same height.
