Charolais Cattle
Show, Sale May 22
Virginia’s first major showing of Charolais cattle will be staged at Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises Saturday, May 22. Many of the cattle, purebred and crossbred, will be from nearby Charolais herd6. Beginning at 9 a.m., the program will include a showing of Charolais stock cattle, addresses by leaders in Chasolais breeding, a question and answer discussion, an auction sale, a visit to the Baxter Cha»> olais Farm at Shelby, Va., and an evening meeting in Chaslottesville of the Board of Directors for the VirginiaCarolinas Charolais Association.
A few pens of Charolais cross feeder calves and several head of fat cattle supplied by nearby farmers will be offered at auction. Sales of stock cattle, including purebred Charolais bulls, will be on private treaty basis. Featured speakers will include Scott Henderson, Executive Secretary of the American International Charolais Association; Logan McGinne88, leading Charolais Breeder from Excelsior Springs, Missouri; and John Jordan, President of the VirginiaCarolinas Charolais Association.
Major purpose of the event is to enable cattlemen and farmers in the vicinity to learn more about Charolais cattle and to get a first hand view of both purebred and crossbred Charolais. Cattle from the herds of Mr. J. M. O’Bannon, WoodvUle, and Mr. Allen Stokes, Sperry - ville, will be exhibited.
