Richmond - The State Highway Commission has approved 11he award of cornracts totalling $9,584,543 for 28 projects Ion which bids were opened lune 2.
The list includes major dividing work on Arterial US 13 on the eastern Shore and on US 29 in Greene county north and south of Rucke rsville.
each of these projects is about 6 1/2 miles long, with the US 13 work involving construction of four completely new lanes to bypass Accomac Court House and Onley in Accomack county.
The Wright Contracting Co. of Columbus, Georgia, won the contract for the eastern Shore project with a low bid totaling $2,254,492. The contract for the construction on US 29 was awarded to the A. B. Burton Co., Inc., of Lynchburg on a bid of $1,020,954.
The project description and contract award in Rappahannock County is Route 022 - 1.9 miles of reconstruction and aggregate base surfacing, from Rock Mills to Route 021. Moyer Constr. Co., Staunton, j $ 1 18,779.
