Awards for winning contestants are provided primarily by businessmen, industries, and organizations interested in working with young people. The 4-H program in the Old Dominion is conducted by the Virginia Agricultural Extension Service at Virginia Tech. Dr. T. Marshall Hahn, Jr., president of Virginia Tech, welcomed the 4-H ers on Mon day at their first assembly in Burrus Hall auditorium. William H. Daughtrey, Extension director, explained the purposes of Short Course. A program entitled “4-H -- Our Opportunity To Learn for Living, was narrated by the Rev. Jack Good of Roanoke. The Virginia Tech Men’s Glee Club presented *T Am The Nation.
Tuesday night’s program fea tured a panel discussion on the International Farm Youth Exchange Program entitled “Learning for Living with Our World Neighbors." A former “Miss America," Miss Marilyn Van Derbur of Denver, Colo., will speak Thursday night. Short Course officers for
