Mr. and Mrs. William M. Carrigan art comparing weave in two of the museum typt counterpanes which will be on exhibit with many other items on the Fourth ot July weekend at the Library in Washington. The white one was woven sometime before 1841 by I ucy Eliza Browning from cotton raised on her father’s farm at Mt. View near Old Mt. Salem Church, and was in her Hope Chest when she married Franklin Eastham.
The Rappahannock Historical Society is putting on a three day exhibition of materials woven and processed from fibers grown in this area. A wide display of the spinning equipment, looms, wheels, and hankers used for processing and measuring yarns will be among the historic items collected for the occasion. The exhibit will be open Saturday and Monday from 10:30 to 5, and on Sunday until 8:30 in the evening. Everyone is urged to see this interesting exhibition, and watch the demonstrations Sunday afternoon and evening. A fireworks display will follow on Sunday evening at Avon Hall.
