Successful Carnival
The Washington Volunteer Firemen’s Carnival opened its five day stand with a slow start on Tuesday night that gathered steam on Wednesday with the parade in spite of the late afternoon shower, then built to a most satisfactory close on Saturday night. Officials have expressed their appreciation of the support anc help that they received from the immediate vicinity as well as the county at large, for donations of food, money anc help. Charles Jenkins (Charlie president of WVFC, Gibsor Wharton-Fire Chief and Bertha ArmeJ Parade chairmar report that the gross was $6,761.73. They further remarked that this was about the same as in former years when you considered that a car always boosts the gross by about $2,000 but effects the net very little. The carnival was hdldfor the first time in the nine acres oi property recently acquired by the WVFC and featured the newly built permanent kitchen which was just completed in time for the event.
