siuuy it was aone ana maae a beautiful room. The old brick salvaged from that wall were used to build a new front for the fireplace with an old cherry board 2 1/4 inches thick for a mantle. Fire irons and toolsi from my parents’ home fit perfectly; all making a lovely bright room. At once we felt we had a place for the many beloved things we planted at old *Reescroft" so we brought them as well as the name with us. Our next months were hectic! We dug the plants and loaded a trailer and drove up the following day. The big decision was *vhere to put them all. The land here is very rocky, „nd we decided stone walks would be perfect; Mr. Jenkins laid them so beautifully. He could not see why we admired them so much, as he said he had stumbled over them all his life; also felt that planting flowers was rather piddling work for a grown man. But now he i6 as proud of the job as we. We planted the four or five hundred iris rhyzomes that we had brought up and then
the roses - about 150 at that[
time. The evergreens, hollies} about 25 kinds - and the many other things we had collected from the Gulf of Mexico to Canada on our many trips.1 The azaleas were the first to bloom in their new home and caused quite a little com-j ment as they are not generally grown here and were so lov4r I ly in their gay colors. Among the first things we 1 brought up here and one of l our prize possessions was 1
