FREEDOM TALK
AU this talk of freedom is but a little puff of wind if you’re afraid to speak your piece because it might offend.
If you still tremble in your boots lest an enemy you make, You’ll sure be stopped from taking steps that you otherwise would take.
You’re just as guilty of a crime, ’though you wouldn’t hurt a fly, if you let wrongs happen all around and make no dissenting cry.
We’ve everyone a conscience, and principles, and such, but if we don’t defend them, they won’t amount to much.
“You can’t please everyone—don’t try” is very sound advice and “To thine own self be true”, will bear repeating twice.
God made us better than we are: more wise, more strong, more true; and that very splendid other self is still inside of you.
So, in our talk of freedom let’s practice what we preach, and liberate the Inner Man that’s bound inside of each.
