Sperryville Carnival

Opens Next Week

Sperryville Firemen will open their annual four-night carnival next Wednesday, July 14 and it will .continue through Saturday, July 17. A big parade is schedulec for Thursday evening beginning at 7 p.m. Entries received for the parade include 37 fire trucks, 15 rescue squads, 12 majorette groups, 8 individual majorettes, 8 hon orary fire chiefs, 4 ladies auxiliary units, plus floats, marching units and bands. To date four bands have accepted invitations to the parade. They are Charlestown High School, Taylor High School, Harpers Ferry and Madison High School. On Wednesday night 15 silver dollars will be given away and Saturday will see the awarding of many prizes, among which are a 1965 Fore savings bonds, electric mixey auto battery and motor oil. The food stand on the carni val grounds has been enlarged and is now double its original size to accommodate the public with faster, better ser vice. Good food will be avail able each night and a plate supper will be served Thurs day night following the parade “The selection of rides is better than ever,” declares fire company president, Rob ert Estes, * and we are plan ning for and expecting recort attendance." All who will contribute food for the food stand are asked to contact Mrs. Irvin Kilby or bring it to the grounds.
