These funds were allocated for additional cable facilities between the five communities and for additional central office switching equipment in each area. Building additions in Criglersville and Sperryville were also part of the pro gram. Since telephone users in thses exchanges may now reach friends and business acquaintances on a local call basis, C&P anticipates an increase in telephone usage of 600 to 800 percent.

Once again the people of Rappahannock, their guests and people passing through were delighted with the beautiful lumanari display and fireworks on the lawn of Avon Hall Sunday evening. Apprecia tion goes to Mr. and Mrs. William Carrigan from the many who enjoyed this annual salute to Independence Day. The benefit supper proved popular to the extent that the food was in short supply. Much credit is due members of the Home Demonstration Clubs and other friends who supplied the attractive plates under the supervision of Miss Doris Daugherty and Mrs. Thomas B. Massie. The Library Committee thanks all those who participated and promises that preparations will be on an even larger scale next year.
