Mahoney Charged in Cheater Gap Shooting
John Presley Mahoney of Rockville, Md. has been arrested and charged with the felonious shooting of Mrs. Annie Virginia Walters of Chester Gap. The shooting occurred early Sunday morning, July 3 in the Walters home. Mahoney is a brother of Mrs. Walters. He was apprehended by Montgomery County, Md. officers and detained in "Rockville jail, then returned to Rappahannock County Sunday, July 10 by Trooper W. A. Buntin and Sheriff Charles K. Estes. He is being held on $25,000 bond.

The Chester Gap firemen wish to thank everyone who attended or helped in any way to make their recent Carnival a success. Record crowds and near perfect weather made this the most successful Carnival so far. Gross receipts were $5300 for the four day event.
