Sperryville Firemen’s carnival opened last night with a thrilling assortment of games, rides and prizes and a quantity of good country food. The four-night event continues through Saturday the 16th at which time numerous prizes will be awarded. The grand prize to be given away is a 1966 Chevy II. The feature tonight, Thursday, is the big festive parade scheduled to begin at 7 p. m. EDT, and containing over a hundred units. Entries include majorette groups and individuals, marching units, bands and bugle corps, comic entries, plus fire and rescue equipment, civic floats and honorary fire chiefs. A plate supper will be available at the food stand for $1.25. It will include fried chicken and old Virginia ham with potato salad, deviled eggs, pickle, drink and dessert.
