Readiness Program
Invites Public View
The public is cordially invited to come to the Sperryville Elementary School on Friday, July 14, between 10 a.m. and 12 noon to see the summer Pre-School Readiness Program, and the Correctional R ea d i n g Program for Grades 1-7, in operation. There are 289 pupils from all sections of Rappahannock , County participating in this federally financed program. Ninety-three of those enrolled will enter the first grade In either the Washington or Sperryville Elementary School this fall. The remaining students are distributed in grades 1 through 7 of the Correctional Reading Program.
All visitors will assemble in the Sperryville Elementary School Library and will then be taken to the different class, rooms.
Ellmore Injured in
Speedway Mishap
James E. Ellmore, Jr. oi Falls Church was seriously injured last week at the Manassas Speedway. Mr. Ellmore, who has worked as flagman at the tract for a number of years, sustained injuries when one of the racing vehicles blew a clutch. Flying debris struck him in the neck cutting him severely and knocked him to the ground causing a head injury. He was taken to Prince William Hospital and later transferred to Fairfax Hospital where he remains on the critical list. He is the son of J. E. Ellmore of Amissville.
